Secret of the Heart

Part 1: Auran

       “SERENA!!!! You ate my pancake again didn’t you???” Rini stared accusingly at Serena’s mouth, dripping in maple syrup and crumbs. “Hey, I’m a hungry princess! Not MY fault you woke up late! Anyways, I have a date with my prince this afternoon. So I have to be at my best, and that means NOT hungry!” Rini’s face grew to a crimson red. Just as she was about to scream, someone knocked at the door.

   “I’ll get it!!!!” Rini shouted as she ran to the door. She opened it to Mina’s smiling face. She was dressed in a cute orange halter-top and a yellow skort. Her hair was done up in a ponytail and her eyes were sparkling with excitement. “Hey there Rini! Come on Serena! The girls are waiting in the Crystal Carriage! We’re going to the Ice Cream shop! We figured you might like to come.” Serena wiped her face and ran out to the carriage. Just before she left, she said “You’re 12 now, you’re old enough to stay at the palace alone. Have fun!”

Rini stomped her foot and sunk into her Mom’s throne. She was Neo Queen Serenity, but she still acted like Serena…. Why? She was her Mom… She sunk farther into the throne. The cushy vermillion velvet cushion was up to her cheeks now. She sighed and decided that pouting was no good. She got up and changed into some different clothes. She chose a red t-shirt and pink shorts. Then, she skipped out to Crystal Tokyo’s Silver Millennium Park.

    She walked gingerly around, looking at the Moon’s wonderful wildlife. The tiny squirrels and sweet little kittens. “Rini!” Diana jumped down from a tree (in her cat form). “It’s been a while since you came back! Been keeping Crystal Tokyo’s mouse population from going too high?” she giggled. Diana turned a bright fire truck red. “Ahem…” she coughed. “Let’s take a walk around the park.” She jumped up on to Rini’s shoulder and purred contentedly as they walked through the park, happy.

   “Princess Rini!” a girl bent down before her and Diana. She was older than Rini, but younger than the now 20 year old Neo-Queen Serenity. She looked about 15. She had straight; lavender hair passed her feet and shimmering violet eyes. Her face was pale and her lips were a light pink. She was beautiful. “You don’t have to bow. What’s your name? I don’t recognize you.” The girl smiled sweetly. “My name is Auran. You shouldn’t recognize me either princess. I am from another planet….somewhere else.”

   “Would you like to learn a game we play on my planet princess? Or do you have more important matters to attend to?” Rini was flattered by the way this girl treated her. Normally this kind of talk was reserved to Serena. “Sure! I LOVE to play games!” Auran smiled her soft, kind smile. “I am so happy you will play! It was always one of my favorite games when I was your age.”

   The game went like this. You picked up an object and concentrated on it. Then, you thought of your favorite thing. The object would turn into it if it was an object and if it was something else, an image would appear. It was a game that improved your mental powers. Whoever could get the most things to change or make an image, would win. You stopped after 10 objects had been used. Rini and Auran were laughing about for most of the time. Then it was the last object before the game ended. It was Auran’s turn. Her face turned somber. She picked up a leaf. Her eyes closed and a picture of a woman in a flowing silver dress appeared then faded. “You win princess.” She said, even though she had had many more than her. She smiled again. “I’ll see you later!” then she waved and walked away.

     When Serena came home, Rini was nowhere to be found. She had checked everywhere except her room. She walked up and knocked. “Come in Mom! I want to show you something!!!” She opened the door. She and Diana (in her human form) were holding different objects in their hands. “Mom! I met a really nice girl named Auran in the park and she showed me this really cool game!!! Look... this is how you play….”

Her, Diana, and Rini played until supper time. They ran down the stairs and began to eat the small feast before them. “That was a wonderful game Rini! Does this Auran girl live here?” Rini swallowed a chunk of rice and said “She said she came from a different planet…didn’t say which one though.” The blue sky suddenly began  to darken. Serena got up immediately. Clouds came in, dark as a winter night and evil looking. Rini shouted “Crystal weapons, summon!” Their special wands materialized into their hands and they ran outside in their princess forms.

         As soon as they got out, an amazing sight greeted their eyes. The whole city was trapped in ice. Like an eternal winter, the people and buildings were caught in the crystals. The princesses from the other planets, teleported to them. “It happened here too?” Princess Mina asked. Princess Lita explained. In all the planets, their capital cities were frozen. “A NEW enemy?” Rini clutched her Crystal wand closer. “We should spread out” she said. “One of us should stay at the palace in case that becomes frozen too. The Imperial silver crystal must be protecting it.” Lita volunteered to stay and the others spread out to different parts of the city, hoping to find clues to who caused this disaster and how to cure the city.

     Princess Rini ran around shouting names. Maybe someone wasn’t frozen? “Princess….princess….” she ran over to where the sound had come from. Auran was hurt on the ground. “Auran!!! What happened!?” she lifted her head. Her violet eyes bore into her like a laser. “Please….someone has attacked….they’re coming back…warn the others… I’ll be okay…” Her eyes closed. “Moon Crystal heal!!!” Her eyes fluttered back open. “Rini! Leave here!!! You are in great danger!!!” She got up shakily. “PLEASE RINI!!! For me!” Rini nodded and began to run. As Auran looked back, strands of her lavender hair flew into her face, a look of sadness about her.

    She ran and ran, breath pounding out of her. “Momma!!! Mom!!! Serena! Lita!! Amy, MINA!!!!!” She collapsed, breathing heavily. “Mommy….Auran is okay….Auran…Serena…” Mina ran over to her, seeing her. “Rini!!! Are you okay?? You look delirious!” She lifted the heaving Rini into her arms and carried her back to the palace. Rini murmured something. “What is it Rini?? What did you say?” Rini turned to face Mina her eyes fluttering back open. “Auran…all alone…Serenity…” then she fell back into unconciousness.
