Chapter 6 - Regret

For the next few weeks, Helios put off all his duties so he could spend time with Lady Rini. They went everywhere together and seemed so happy. Then one day, Lady Rini was looking down. “Is something the matter, Lady Rini?” Helios asked. “I was just thinking about my mother and father,” Lady Rini said with sadness. “I wonder if they miss me?” she said.

“Of course they miss you,” Helios said. “They are your family,” he comforted. “I guess you’re right,” she said, cheering up a little. Helios knew he was going to regret what he was about to say.

“Lady Rini,” Helios started. “You want to go back, don’t you,” Helios said quietly. “Helios, I’m so happy here,” Lady Rini said. “But I have to go back to my duties someday,” she explained.

“If that’s what you want, to go back, then I guess I can’t stop you,” Helios said sadly. “Helios,” Rini said. “I want what’s best for you, Princess, and I don’t want any arguments,” Helios answered. “I guess I do have to go back,” Princess Rini agreed. “I hope you will understand,” she continued. “Don’t worry my Rini, I’ll always understand.” Helios said as he looked at Rini lovingly.

Helios took Princess Rini to where Pegasus was and told him, “Make sure she gets back safely,” he commanded. “Well, what are you waiting for?” Helios said. “Alright,” Princess Rini said.

When Princess Rini was already floating in the air, she told Helios, “I’ll never forget you, Helios,” Princess Rini blew a kiss. “Goodbye, my love,” Helios said with regret. The before Helios knew it, his love was going back and was gone forever.

When Princess Rini returned, she was glad to be back. She liked being with Helios, but she missed her family, too. She went to look for them. They were probably worried sick about her.

When she saw her mother and father, they were sitting in her bedroom. Her mother was crying and her father looked depressed. Then Princess Rini said, “Mom, Dad? Why are you so sad?” Neo-Queen Serenity looked up and looked on in disbelief at her daughter. “Small Lady?” “You’re here?!” the Queen said with wide eyes. “And…you have grown up?” she said in wonder.

“Small Serenity,” King Endimion exclaimed. “How did you get here? You’ve been missing for weeks! And how did you get older?” he interrogated. “We were so worried and we missed you so much!” they said. Her parents came over to her and hugged her tight. “I missed you too,” Princess Rini said.

After Princess Rini greeted her parents, they had asked her what had happened to her, but she didn’t tell them a thing. She felt it wasn’t right if she did. Her parents were bewildered, but glad to have their daughter back.

The next few days, Princess Rini stayed in room the whole time. She wouldn’t go to her studies, meetings, and didn’t even come out at all. Her mother and father were getting worried about her.

Princess Rini only sat by her window and regretted her decisions. “Why did I leave?” she cried. “I was so happy there, but I didn’t realize it until it was too late.” “Helios filled the aching loneliness in my heart.” “Why couldn’t I see that?!” she shouted out. All Princess Rini did was cry. She cried for the loss of her love and her foolish actions.

Back in Elysium, Helios was feeling alone, too. He felt so stupid for convincing Rini to go back. “My love…” he sighed. Helios suddenly felt a pain in his heart. “What is this…?” Helios wondered. “Rini must be unhappy,” Helios said. “I have to go to her, I can’t live without her,” Helios decided. “I must rescue my Rini!”

Helios didn’t take Pegasus, instead, he used his secret which he hadn’t told Rini about. He sprouted magnificent golden wings the shined like the sun. “I will bring Rini back to me, even if it takes me a million years.” Helios vowed.
