Chapter 4 - Forgiveness
Helios found pegasus and figured Rini had gone back to the palace and raced as fast as he could to apologize to her. “How could I have been so stupid!” he yelled at himself.
When he got to the room that Rini had stayed in, he couldn’t find Rini anywhere. “Rini! Rini, where are you?!” “She must be hiding somewhere,” he thought. He looked everywhere in the room but didn’t find her. “I can’t lose her now,” Helios regretted.
But then he heard sobbing coming from the sitting room. He went in and followed the sounds and saw Rini sobbing in the corner of the room. “Rini…I…” “Don’t even get near me!!!” She shouted. “I never want to see you again!!!” she cried. “Leave me alone,” she cried again.
“Please let me wake up!” she called out. Helios came and sat next to her. “Look Rini, I’m sorry that you had to see that. I had nothing to do with it. She made advances on me and I couldn’t stop it. Please understand,” he pleaded.
“I understand perfectly,” she said. “I understand that you never even liked me! You were just using me to get back to her,” she said angrily. “Wait a minute. I have always liked you and I was never using you!” “Why can’t you see that?!” Helios implored.
“I do see!” she explained. “I see that you think that I am only a child and that I will never be anything more. I’ll never be able to grow up!” She said more to herself than to Helios.
“I never thought that you were only a child and I think that you can become anything you want,” Helios said. “Then what do you think of me?” Rini questioned. “What?” she yelled.
“I…I…I love you Rini,” Helios admitted. “I have always loved you,” Helios said. “Helios…I,” Rini stuttered. “I love you Rini. For your innocence, your gentility, your modest nature. You always treat me like a person, and you’re not afraid to tell me what you think. I love you.” Helios said caringly.
Rini was so shocked that she started to cry again. Helios folded his arms around Rini and held her. Rini felt loved and her loneliness haunted her no longer. She felt safe in Helios’ arms.
“Helios?” Rini asked, “How did I end up in Elysium?” “So, you believe this is real?” he said. “Yes, I wasn’t ready to believe the truth.” She said. “Well, it’s very simple,” he continued, “The power of your wishes allowed you to come here,” he stated. “And I know you wanted to come back more than anything,” Helios whispered. He gazed into her ruby eyes.
Rini broke away from him and turned away. “My beautiful, sweet Rini,” Helios sighed.
“Please don’t say anymore,” Rini begged. “I can’t stand it. I just can’t…” she trailed off. “You make me feel like no one else can Helios, and your gaze searches me…you overwhelm me with your love…it’s too much!” She cried.
“It’s alright, Rini,” Helios comforted. “I’ll always be here to help you,” Helios said. “Do you promise?” Rini asked. “Of course,” Helios got up and stepped closer. “F…Forever?” Rini asked nervously. “I promise I will,” Helios came closer. “Helios?” “What are you…” Helios came up to Rini and put his hands on her shoulders. “I promise, because you have my heart, Rini.” Before Rini knew it, Helios’ lips met her own in a loving embrace.
When the kiss ended, Rini felt as if her heart was beating so fast it was going to explode. She hoped Helios hadn’t felt that. “H…Helios?” Rini stammered. “My Rini,” Helios said as he held her close.
Suddenly, as Helios was holding Rini, the crystal necklace that Helios wore started to glow, and Rini began to float in the air. “Helios what’s…” but before she could finish, bright lights surrounded her and formed into a sphere.
After the lights faded, they dropped her gently on the floor. Helios went over to her and saw if she was alright. “Rini, are you hurt?” he asked with concern. “Helios? Are you there?” A more mature voice answered. “Rini, is that you?” Helios wondered.
As Rini got up, she felt different in some way. “Helios what happened?” she asked. “What, why are you staring at me like that?” she pondered. Helios was in awe. “You’re grown up,” he exclaimed. “What?” she said with disbelief.
