Chapter 3 - Heartache

After Helios finally left, which seemed like an eternity, Rini decided to explore the room she was in. She looked around the room and spotted a closet. When she looked in she saw what was in it, she was amazed.

There were beautiful dresses of all sorts, and she figured she should pick one out for tonight. The thought of it made her heart beat faster. Why was she feeling like this? This was a dream, she knew it was. She just passed out while she was in her room and she dreamed about being here in Elysium. It just couldn’t be real. Rini just wished so much that she could see Helios that she was dreaming of being in this place. That was the reason. But she found that deep down inside she didn’t want to wake up to the world that she was used to.

When Rini had finished getting ready, she went over to the mirror and looked at herself. She didn’t even recognize the person that she saw. She wore a beautiful Rose gemstone necklace and hairpins with her hair down, a silk carnation dress, pink glass shoes, and glossy pink make-up. It was a major change to the white dress and pigtails she had worn before. Rini had never felt more wonderful in her life. She wondered what Helios would think.

After what seemed like forever, a knock sounded at the door. “Hello? Rini, are you there? It’s time to leave. Are you ready?” Helios asked from the outside. “Uh....yeah…I mean yes I’m ready,” Rini said nervously. As Helios opened the door, he looked at Rini and seemed very surprised, shocked even.

“Rini, you’re so…beautiful…,” Helios said, almost speechless.

Rini was feeling warm in the cheeks again. She didn’t know even nonchalant Helios could ever be speechless. Helios looked quite handsome himself. “Why, thank you Helios,” she replied. “So where are we going?” Rini asked. “Well, I knew a minute ago, but I forgot when I saw you,” he answered.

“Helios, it’s making me nervous when you stare at me like that,” Rini told him. “I’m sorry Rini,” Helios apologized. He tore his gaze away from her. “We’re going to a place called ‘Cloud Haven’.” “It’s an exquisite dining place with a great view.” He said. “Well, what are we waiting for?” Rini questioned. “Let’s go then,” Helios said as her looped his arm through Rini’s.

“Helios,” Rini asked. “How are we going to get there?” She interrogated. “Why, the fastest way is by pegasus,” Helios stated. “Pegasus?” Rini wondered. “But how…” she got cut off. “I’ll explain everything at dinner,” Helios said.

Then, as soon as they stopped in front of the pegasus, Helios wordlessly picked Rini up and placed her on the pegasus’ back, much to Rini’s surprise. Then Helios swung himself astride and said, “Hang on tight, Rini.”

When they got to Cloud Haven, Rini was amazed by its presence. There were fountains, clouds everywhere, and people riding pegasus’ all over the place. Then there was one conspicuous cloud that stood out among all the others. It sparkled like a diamond and was providing the light inside just by the reflections. That one had to be the dining.

“Wow, this place is amazing,” Rini remarked. “It is an exquisite place,” Helios added.

They went inside and it seemed like everyone was looking nice, too. Rini was glad she got all dressed up. Helios talked to the server and he led Helios and Rini to a table with the most magnificent crystal chandelier above it. “That is so pretty!” Rini exclaimed. “This is the best table here,” Helios said.

When they sat down, Rini asked, “So Helios, are you going to explain things to me or not?” “Alright. What do you want to know?” he answered back. “First of all, how did you become separated from pegasus?” she asked. “Well, when I was captured by Nehelania, she trapped my human form, as you know. So I had to find another form to dwell in, so I chose a pegasus,” he continued.

“After Elysium was regenerated, I was separated from my other form, so he came more of a ghost, since he was part of me,” Helios finished. “I suppose that doesn’t make any sense, does it??” he laughed. “Oh it makes perfect sense,” she said.

“Don’t you want to know how came to be at Elysium?” Helios asked her. “Well…,” she stopped. “You still believe this is a dream, don’t you Rini,” he said with a hint of sadness. “But…” Rini was interrupted by another voice.

“Guardian Priest Helios!” A girl’s voice said. “Duchess Atalanta,” Helios greeted. The woman was wearing the most beautiful clothes and she herself was very beautiful, and Rini was beginning to feel insecure.

“So who is your guest?” she said with curiosity. “Is she an unknown relative you haven’t told me about?” she ventured. “No, she’s not a relative, she is my very special guest, Miss Serenity,” he corrected. “So Serenity, if you don’t mind me calling you, where are you from?” She interrogated. Helios gave Lady Atalanta an annoyed look. “Well, I’m from…” “She’s from a foreign land,” he answered.

“It’s nice to meet you,” Rini said politely. “Yes, well, it seems that I must speak to Helios in regards to a certain matter which you wouldn’t understand,” Atalanta said smugly. “Helios?” she leaded. “I’m sorry about this, Serenity, I’ll be back as soon as I can ,” Helios apologized.

After waiting a long time, Rini decided to see what had happened to Helios. She asked the server where the veranda was and went out to find them.

When Rini saw Helios, she was about to go over to him but there was Atalanta holding her arms around him. She overheard Atalanta saying, “Helios, why did you bring that child to dinner and not ask me?” She scolded. “She so young, and I am just the right age for you,” “Why don’t I come to your palace?” She offered.

“Serenity is no child, and I won’t have you insulting her,” he raved. “I will make sure that you never go near her…” before Helios could finish, Atalanta brought him close and kissed him.

Rini was watching this the whole time and she felt as if she was being broken into a million pieces. “Serenity!!!” Helios shouted. “I…I’m so sorry!” Rini started to cry and ran to find something, anything, to get away from here.

She was looking for Pegasus, but she couldn’t find him. She grabbed one that was on a cloud and flew away to the palace. Where else could she go?

“Serenity!” Helios shouted again. “Leave her be,” Atalanta said. “We have more important things to attend to,” she invited. “I will not tolerate this anymore!” Helios ranted. He shoved her to the ground and ran to find Rini. “You’ll regret this Helios!!!” Atalanta called.
