Between the Eighth and Ninth

This story is going to be different from all of the rest. That is because it is told by me, Perseus. I am a constellation. Well, I am the human form of the constellation Perseus. I was named after the champion from ancient Greece. Perseus saved his beloved Andromeda from the sea monster Cetus.

I’m in the throne room a few days after the passing of Andromeda. Hercules told the queen that the Zodiac Sailors killed her. The queen is sitting on her throne that she always sits on. It is huge and made of stardust with some crystals on it. The queen herself is beautiful in her own right. Cassiopeia has long black hair with flecks of white in it. She wears a Greek dress that is long, blackish-blue with stars. Her eyes look the same as her dress. She also wears a silver crown that has crystals. It is the south crown constellation Corona Australis. Corona Borealis was King Cepheus’s constellation crown of the north. Just like all constellations she has the crystals that represent her constellation on her body. They are in the places just the way her constellation looks and that is why her throne has crystals also.

Queen Cassiopeia was named after Andromeda’s mother. She was punished for being so vain. Cassiopeia had to have Andromeda sacrificed to Cetus. After Perseus saved the princess the queen was still too vain and as her final punishment was tied to a chair and put in the heavens for eternity.

"Are you sure Hercules? They really killed my daughter?" Queen Cassiopeia has a very low-pitched voice. If I didn’t see her sitting there I would think it was a man speaking.

"Yes my queen, those brats killed her with their powers." Hercules told her. Both Hercules and I were on one knee bowing to her.

"Perseus, were you there? Can you confirm this?" she questioned me.

"No, my queen. I was not there I can neither deny or confirm what my brother has told you." I answered.

"Fine. You are excused. I would like to be alone." After she spoke we both left her sight. We went to our room. Our base is in space somewhere in Queen Cassiopeia’s constellation.

"Did they really kill her?" I asked.

"Of course, why would I lie." Hercules stated.

I sat on my bed and finally had enough nerve to ask him a question. "Do you ever think we are fighting on the wrong side?"

"No! The queen found us and helped us learn the truth. Without her we would not have any powers. It is those girls fault that the king and now Andromeda have died." He spoke and jumped on his bed.

"Oh, I don’t either. The queen is mighty and we are beneath her." I said trying to sound truthful.

"If that is so why are you falling in love with Wendy. Our mission is to observe the sailors when they aren’t sailors. You were never supposed to have feelings for her." He yelled at me.

"I don’t have feelings for her. I know my mission and I will carry it out as planned. And anyway what about you and Mindy?" I fought back.

"She is fun and that is all. I will never fall in love with someone who I am fighting against. It is wrong." He retorted.

"Right." I got up to leave.

"Where are you going? To Earth?" Hercules asked me.

"No, just for a walk. Our date with the twins isn’t for a few more hours." I didn’t take us very long to get from the university to the constellation base and back again. I usually use my favorite constellation Pegasus. He is a white winged horse with a gold mane and tail.

Before I left he said, "I figured out a better way to catch the sailors. I hope you don’t mind, but I will be the next to awaken them."

"Go right ahead!" I said as I left.

I walked around the base for a while until I ended up outside of the throne room. I could hear Queen Cassiopeia talking to someone. I peaked my head into the doorway and saw that she was reading the zodiac constellations. Soon Virgo seemed to glow. A picture of a girl appeared among the stars. The girl has gray eyes and taupe hair. Her hair was to her shoulders and some hair was pulled behind her right ear into two gray barrettes.

"Noel Vierge, you are next." The queen said to herself.

Then Cassiopeia called to Hercules for his next mission. I found Pegasus and headed for Earth. I would try to help Noel and the other sailors and try not to be discovered. I know more about the past than Hercules does.
