The Fire Trials

Kim’s Trial

Kim, Esa and Heather looked around their new surroundings once they opened their eyes.  They were in a cavern of lava and fire. The place was very hot.  “I think we’re in a volcano.” Esa stated before anyone could ask.

“Aye, but how do we get back?” Heather asked.  Before Kim or Esa could reply flames grew so large they had to move out of the way.  When the three looked again they saw that they were now alone.

Kim stood alone in the middle of fire and lava.  She was surrounded.  “This is just great.” she yelled to herself.  She tried to walk away, but wherever she walked fire or lava was in her way.  Kim longed to be with Centaurus.  He would know what to do.

Kim tried to use her communicator.  “Centaurus!  Where are you, mate?” she yelled into the fuzz that she could only get.  Kim was paying so much attention to the watch, she wasn’t watching the fire and lava getting closer to her.

“It’s a bloody furnace in here!  Damn it!” she yelled as she finally saw.  The smoke filled her lungs.   This made Kim fall to her knees.  She coughed.

When Kim opened her eyes again she was in a memory.  Kim was about 15.  She was a punk in London.  Kim was standing on the corner smoking a cigarette with her best mates.  They really didn’t care about her.  They only hung around because Kim could get them free pints from her dad’s secret fridge.  He never even noticed they were gone.  He just thought he had drunk them.

One day Kim and her friends were watching a play.  They had to go for school.  The group sat at the back making noises and doing other distracting and rude things.  After a while Kim started to pay attention.  The actors were very good.  Kim also loved the set and costumes.

“What’s the matter, Kim?  You look positively gobsmacked.  Do you want to be one of those fools?” one of her friends said.

            “Sod off.” Kim yelled back.

“I was only taking the mickey.” He shouted back.  Then the two of then joined back with the group in ignoring the play.

The teacher that had brought the class to see the play finally noticed the group. She made Kim and her friends go outside.  “Since you all think you could do better I am assigning you to be set builders for the stage company.” Everyone in the group made their disgust known. All except Kim.  She thought it was a wonderful idea.

For the next few weeks they had to help the stage company make the set for Shakespear’s “Midsummer’s Nights Dream”.  Kim loved it.  She had stopped hanging around her friends.  Instead she spent her time with the cast and crew.  Kim also loved the play.  She had taken a script home and memorized the lines of all the female parts.

The night of the opening the actor who was to play the part of the Faerie Queen broke her leg.  She had tripped over a latter one of Kim’s friends left in the way.  The director didn’t know what to do.

“I know her lines.” Kim spoke.  Everyone in the room looked at her.  Kim’s friends didn’t even like her anymore.  Now they were disgusted with her.  How could Kim want to be an actor?

“Yes, that could work.  You are her size, so the costume will fit.” the director said.  That night was Kim’s debut.  Kim’s parents were in the audience not expecting to see their girl.  They cheered her on.

After that Kim lost touch with her friends and stopped smoking and drinking.  Kim was not a new person, she had become who she was all along.  Kim just had gotten lost along the way.

Kim opened her eyes to see her friend standing there.  He looked just like he did when they went and saw the play.

“So Kim became an actor and a protector of justice.  How could you?”  He said.

Kim rose to her feet.  “I became who I was meant to be all along. So again, sod off!”

“That’s not the right answer.  Oh well.”  Kim’s friend threw water at her.  It knocked her to the ground.  It hurt.

Kim again rose to her feet.  “You can’t be Gorge.  He would never do this.  Sagittarius Crystal Make-Up!”  Kim was covered in navy flames.  She became Super Sailor Sagittarius.  Her uniform was changed a little.  Her tiara’s gem was now a star.  There was a red stripe around the bottom of her skirt.  Sagittarius’ back bows grew longer.  Her sleeves now had transparent parts.  The broach had the Sagittarius symbol on the outside with her sailor crystal on the inside.

“Bloody Hell! Look at you.  Now I will have to kill you, mate!”  Again he threw water at Sagittarius.

“Sagittarius Flaming Arrows!”  Sagittarius new power started out like her old power.  Instead when sagitta was shot from the crossbow it became many arrows all covered in navy flames.   The arrows hit the fake friend and he was gone.

Sailor Sagittarius was still surrounded by flames and lava.  She tried to move when navy light covered her and she was gone.
