Shelly’s Trial

~ I have to inform you that I messed up my last story. I wrote trails instead of trials. Maybe I’m a bit dyslexic I don’t know!  Sorry about that! If you have any comments, questions, or concerns please e-mail me at methos5000@hotmail.com ~Wendy~

Shelly, Lee and Bella opened their eyes and couldn’t believe what they saw.  The girls were standing together in a lake of water.  They were alone.  The water seemed endless.  It was a dark blue and only went just above the girls’ ankles.

“Where are we?” asked Lee.  The two others shrugged their shoulders.

Shelly looked around and saw something.  It looked a lot like someone she once knew.  Shelly then followed the person leaving the other girls behind.  Lee and Bella were too busy to notice.

“Wait!” Shelly screamed at the figure.  Shelly tripped over her feet and landed in the water.  Once she opened her eyes she was in a memory.

Shelly was the middle child of 5 the other 4 being boys.  Somehow Shelly seemed to always get lost in the mix.  Her parents didn’t even notice her half the time.  Shelly liked to sneak out, if that’s what you would call it when no one knows you’re gone, and go to the beach.  The beach was her one safe place.  There she could feel the sea.  It comforted her.

When Shelly was 9 years old she came home from the beach to an empty house.  Shelly began to cry as she realized they had forgotten her.  Shelly didn’t know what to do.  She was a kid after all.  Shelly decided to go up to her room and wait for them.  She curled into a ball on her bed and cried herself asleep.

When the sun rose the next day Shelly woke up.  She could hear a voice coming from the kitchen.  Shelly got out of her bed and ran to see who it was.  In the kitchen stood her father.  He seemed very sad as he spoke in to the phone.  He didn’t see Shelly as she walked over to him.  Shelly tugged on his pants to get his attention.

“What?  Shelly?  You should be at hospital.       Did you come home with me?” her father said.  He really didn’t know she had not been with them.  Shelly shook her head.  Her father picked her up and took her with him to the hospital.

Once there Shelly finally knew what was going on.  The second youngest Billy, who was 7, had been rushed to the hospital.  The family didn’t know what was wrong with him.  Shelly ran to her eldest brother Nic, who was 15, and sat in his lap.  Nic hugged her.  Don’t get this wrong Shelly’s family loved her, they just seemed to forget about her.

After a day of waiting they were able to see Billy.  Each hugged him and said their “I love you’s”.  Shelly was last.  She didn’t know what to say.  So she hugged him and said what everyone else said.  Billy who liked to tease her said, “So Sheila, back from the beach?”  The room was confused by what Billy meant.  They honestly didn’t know she had been left behind.  Shelly didn’t say a word.  She knew he was sick and it wouldn’t be right to yell at him.

After a few days the doctors still didn’t know what was wrong.  Shelly was in the hospital room with Billy.  They were the only two in the room.  She loved him even if he was a pain to her.  Shelly knew that Billy really was the only one in the family who knew she existed. “All you have to do is speak up.” Billy said after a moment of silence.

            “What?” softly Shelly questioned.

“They’d notice you more if you would speak up.  That’s all there is to it Sheila.” Billy told her.  Shelly had to laugh at Billy’s use of Sheila.  He had heard Bruce, the second oldest brother, use it and now he couldn’t stop.

            “Okay.” Shelly said.

Billy shook his head. “You are hopeless.”

A few days later Billy was out of the hospital and he was fine.  The doctors never did learn what was wrong with him.  This was the moment in Shelly’s life that stuck with her.  She had wanted to be a nurse ever since.

Shelly pulled her head out of the water.  She looked up and saw Billy.  He looked to be the age he was in her memory.  “How can this be?” Shelly questioned.

“No worries, Sheila.  This is how you die!  No one will even notice that you’re gone.  Just as always!” He yelled at her.  Electricity formed around Billy’s fingers.  He then threw it at Shelly.  She screamed in pain.  Electricity and water did not mix well.

After the pain was over Shelly stood on her feet.  She called into the air this phrase, “Cancer Crystal Make-Up!”  Shelly was surrounded with silver water.  It changed her into Super Sailor Cancer.  Cancer’s uniform changed slightly.  Around the bottom of her skirt was a blue stripe.  Her tiara’s gem was now in the shape of a star. The back bows had grown even longer. Her broach was also new and different.  In the inside was her sailor crystal and on the outside was the Cancer symbol.

“Ha ha! I don’t think that will be enough!” the boy who looked like Billy called.  He once again threw electricity at her.  The pain was more than she could bear.

“You are not Billy! So try this one mate!  Cancer Ice Pinch!” Cancer used her new power.  In caused ice to form around Billy and squeeze.  Soon the fake Billy disappeared.  Sailor Cancer looked around to see where she was.  That’s when silver light enveloped her and she was gone.
