New Powers and a New Relationship

Mina’s Tale Part 7

The Sailor Warriors were training hard. Nova was pushing us to our limits by starting with martial arts in the morning and learning our magic in the afternoon. It is not truly magic but the ability to channel the energy of our crystals through our bodies; I just like to think of it as magic. Speaking of magic, I took notice that Nova and Serena’s birthday was approaching and I wanted to make it special for them. Serena is my sister – in my heart and soul, she is truly the spirit of the Sailors and we would always look to her whenever we were feeling down. Nova is my husband, the love of my life and even though we share the same bed, he never imposed himself upon me. Sometimes it’s frustrating because I love him so much it hurts my soul. The situation with Nova has always puzzled me because I can’t read his mind but I can feel his emotion and through mind contacts, I know that he loves me as much as I love him. I would love to think more about the situation but I have a party to plan.

I went over Nova and Serena’s official schedule for the month before their birthday. I shifted a few appointments around, I do control Nova’s schedule, and made sure that they both would be involved in official activities that would take them away from the Palace the week before their birthday. The problem that I see is that I always traveled with Nova. He said that it was hard for him to get to sleep if he couldn’t sleep with me in his arms. Unfortunately, I have to take a chance that he can sleep without me because I need to stay at the Palace and coordinate the party. I couldn’t bring any of the other sailors into my plot until Nova had left. They are so close to Nova, I was afraid that their emotions would give the plan away. I have been around Nova for the past 4 years so it was easier for me to understand how he can read emotions and prevent him for finding out something was being planned.

I decided that I could claim to be sick and because the meetings were too important for him to avoid. I was slightly sick with my period, having reached puberty just six months before, and I had to pretend I was more ill than usual.

Fortunately for me, I had some backup to support my story because Nova was more than willing to cancel all his appointments and stay with me. Lita came to my rescue when my plan was falling apart.

“Don’t worry, Nova,” Lita said, “I will stay in your rooms and keep and eye on Mina. She should be all right by the time you get back.”

“Well, if you promise to summon me immediately if she gets worse.”

Nova moved towards me and put his arms around me, “You take care of yourself, darling, you listen to Lita and she will help you get well.” He pulled me to his body and slowly and deeply kissed me. Serena cam and hugged me and finally they hugged all the other scouts before they left on their visits.

As they left, Lita turned to me, “What’s going on? I know that you are having your period but I also know that it’s not giving you that much pain.”

I looked down at the ground but Lita grabbed me by the chin and forced me to look at her face, “I’m sorry but I needed to stay at the fortress so I can plan their birthday party. Please forgive me.”

Lita threw her arms around and kissed me on the cheeks, “Of course, I forgive you but you should have told me so I could have been more convincing.” All the girls gather around me and started to throw ideas for the party to each other. We all agreed that Lita had to cook the meal but everyone had to help her prepare the dinner. They all had one worry, everything that they wanted as Sailor Warriors would be given to them but they didn’t want to take goods away from merchant without paying for them. I told them that they was royal princesses and as such received a monthly stipend that Nova had been investing for them. Nova wasn’t the richest man in the kingdom for nothing and had taken their small income and made them three of the riches girls in the kingdom. He wanted to surprise them next year with their fortunes but I knew how to access their accounts and make any arrangements to pay for any of their purchases.

While we were shopping for Serena and Nova’s gifts, we realized that the best presents that we could give them came without a price tag; we needed to give them presents from our hearts and not something expensive. Lita decided that she was going to fix their favorite meals and that I would make the cake. Ami and Raye recruited Darien to provide the entertainment for the birthday girl and boy. Everything was going fine and everyone brought little presents to me to wrap. Ami bought water crystal from her home world depicting the Moon. Lita’s presents were wooden statutes depicting nymphs at play. Raye asked me to wrap her two presents; two pieces of red Martian stones that when put together formed the outline of Nova’s fortress. My gifts were simple crystals with our three symbols inside the material. I wrapped each present with great care and love.

Serena and Nova arrived at the palace on the evening before their twelfth birthday and they were surprised that we were not there to greet them on their arrival. Nova called to me with his mind, “Love, where are you? Are you all right?” I answered him, “Nova, we are waiting for you in our suite, please hurry, and I’m fine.” The guards told me later that Nova grabbed Serena by the hand and ran to our suite.

Nova burst into the room with Serena in tow when we all looked at them and yelled, “Happy Birthday”. Nova was stunned and Serena was dumbfounded when all the other sailors and generals approached them and gave them a hug. I couldn’t go to Nova, I had lied to him, and I hope he would forgive me. Serena came to where I stood and wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me on the cheeks. I saw Nova approaching but I couldn’t look him in the eyes.

“I’m sorry that I lied to you but I had to or you would wonder why I didn’t want to go with Serena and you like I always do.” I looked up at his face and I could see him through my tear soaked eyes, “Please forgive me.”

Nova looked at me and wiped the tears from my eyes. Suddenly, I felt his arms around me and his lips pressed against mine and he kissed me. “I am so glad that you are all right but you were sick when I left.”

Mina looked down, “Well, I were having my … you know. So I guess I was a little ill.” With this revelation, I cheered up and held Nova and Serena to me, “Well, let the party begin.”

The party began in earnest and everyone agreed that Lita, Amy, and Raye had done a splendid job and I was shock when everyone said that my cake was excellent. I guess that everything came out better when you put all your love in the batter. The presents were opened and soon the sailors and the generals presented Serena’s play in their special way. I was tired. I guess that feeling sorry for myself took a lot out of me. I spent the evening with my head in Nova’s lap. He would brush back my hair from my face and stroke my cheeks and rub his hand over my side. I knew that he forgave me but I still don’t like not telling him the full truth. I wonder if this sorrow is part of my love for him, I always want to be with him and truthfully, the week we spent apart was the worst time that I had in the last four years. I pledged to myself that I would never lie to him again. He would love me no matter what I do; maybe part of growing up is realizing that someone can love you just for yourself. I fell asleep during the play so I can’t tell you how it ended.

Nova woke me up after the play and everyone realized that they had a rough day of traveling and needed some rest. I told everyone good night as they started to leave but Nova said, “I want all you girls to meet me at the building site of the Fortress of the Warriors at first light. So you better get some sleep.”

After they all left, Nova picked me up in his arms and started to carry me to my bedroom but I stopped him. “There has been a few changes in the past week, my love.” As he opened the door to my former bedroom, all he saw was his entire library in one place. I pointed Nova to our bedroom. As he opened the door he saw all my things that I kept in the other room here. “Well,” I said, “I thought that you need to have all your library together in one place so I decide that we could share this room until we move to the Fortress.” I cuddled against his neck, “Nova, this is the way things are going to be from now on. I am the mistress of our home and I decide the family’s arrangement and I am sleeping in this bed and not in both so you better get use to it.”

I looked into his eyes and all he said was, “Yes, my wife, my life, I will abide by your decision. Thank you for the best birthday present but we need to get some sleep because he need to get everyone else up tomorrow morning.”

The next morning, the Sailor Warriors met at the Fortress of the Warriors or where it would be in a few years. The sun had not crept over the Earth yet and we all were a little tired from last night but we all woke up when Nova began a ceremony. “Today marks a day of transition. It is Serena and mine twelfth birthday and all the planets are in balance. They are aligned with the Moon and willing to give their powers to their daughters. Like the planets, I will give you of my power.”

“Serena, you are Sailor Moon, Princess of the Moon Kingdom, to you I grant the power of destruction of evil but only through artifacts of power.” Nova reached inside a box that he kept by the bed as long as we were together. He had this box every since I know him but I never asked him what was inside. Somehow I knew that one day I would find out but it wasn’t the right time. He pulled from the box a tiara and a wand with a crescent moon attached to the top.

Nova placed the tiara on Serena’s head and Serena embraced Nova. “When you are in need of its power shout ‘Moon Tiara Magic’ and throw the moon disk. This wand is also magic but you need to gain more power but then its use will be important.” Serena, no, Sailor Moon straighten herself a look every bit the defender of justice.

Nova motioned for Amy to come forward, “Amy, you are Sailor Mercury, your powers are of pure water and the mind.” He produced a blue tiara from the box and placed it on Amy’s head. “This tiara is your source of power, say ‘Mercury Bubble Spray’ and you will generate a fog of bubbles that will conceal the sailors from the enemy. Your mind will be your greatest weapon against the Negaverse”

Raye came forward; somehow she must have realized it was her turn. “Raye, you are Sailor Mars, your powers are of fire and the mystery of the unknown.” Nova placed a red-jeweled tiara on Raye. “This headpiece generates your power of fire, say ‘Mars Fire Ignite’ to call forth a ball of fire that will consume your enemy.’

Lita went to Nova, “Lita, you are Sailor Jupiter, your powers are the control of nature and the strength of your will. You are the defender of the sailors by right of might.” Nova slipped a green-jeweled tiara on Lita’s head. “Say ‘Jupiter Thunder Crash’ to summon a bolt of lightning.”

Finally, I looked in front of me to see Nova. I went to him and he kissed me on the lips. “Mina, my life, you are Sailor Venus, the Sailor of Love and Light.” Nova placed a tiara on my head. I didn’t see he take it from the box but I knew it had a yellow-orange stone in it. As Nova lowered his hands from my head, I grasped them and drew them to my chest. “When you shout, ‘Venus Crescent Beam Smash’, you will produce a beam of cleansing light. A light that will be able to destroy a nega-monster for they can not withstand the pure light of love.”

Nova motioned for all of us to approach him. “My family, you are now endowed with powers from your planet and me. I will train you in the use of your magic and the Negaverse will tremble because of our ability.” Nova stepped away from us and we began to talk about our new abilities. I realized that someone was missing and I went to Nova. I put my arm behind his back and escorted him into the middle of the Sailor Warriors. He is our leader and we knew that we would follow him through the gates of Hell. Nova is our soul as much as Serena is our hope. We need to protect them. Mankind depends on them for its survival and we would do anything in our power to make sure they were safe. It takes a moment to realize how devoted we were to Nova’s cause. I was his wife but even if I wasn’t I would be by his side. AS he held me close and I felt my sisters pressing against us, I knew it would be a long war but while Nova was near, we would never surrender to the dark powers.

The Sailor Warriors began a new phase in their training. We possessed incredible powers and trained every day to increase our abilities. It was during this time that Nova designed the sailor suits that we transformed into our Sailor persona. After we underwent the first transformation after Nova reset the wands, we noticed the short skirts and leotards that comprised the Sailor Warriors outfits. Comments were mixed about the costumes but in the end, we all realized that the suits were practical because it gave us the freedom to kick opponents without the restriction that a longer skirt would have given them.

When we were in bed, I turned to Nova and asked him the real reason that he designed the outfits with short skirts instead of pants or shorts. Nova looked deep into my eyes, “I will never lie to you, my love. I did it for personal reasons. You see there is a certain champion of love and light that has the most beautiful legs that I have seen.” Nova reached under the covers and stroked my legs. “I always want to see those legs so I just thought that a short skirt would give me a better look at them.”

I blushed at his words but reached over, hugged and kissed him. I know that he loved me more with each day but I can’t understand why he won’t consummate our marriage. If he would ask me, it will be a second before … well, let’s just hold that thought there. In fact, I have been dropping hints and outright invitations for him. I want to be a real wife to him. We sleep in the same bed; we started to dress in front of each other. Yes, I even have seen him naked and he has seen me. We have even bathed together when I get that frisky feeling but he still refuses to make me his wife. Before you say something, no, everything on him works and works fine. I got so desperate one day that I offered to give him total control of Venus. I wanted to be his wife and if I had no titles except as Nova’s wife, I would be happy the rest of my life.

I decided that I needed to get more people working on the problem. I went to my sisters to see if they had some knowledge concerning Nova’s problem. They all agreed to help me but none was able to provide a quick answer. Serena and Amy decided that the solution was somewhere in the laws of Kanly. Kanly is the rules set down by the original houses to handle all the rituals and the foundation of the ruling factors. Without Kanly, the Moon Kingdom probably never would have formed and it is still its laws that govern the manner in which noble houses interact with one another. We did have another clue, Nova once stated that I had a choice to make when I was eighteen and it had to do with my future. I always thought it had to deal with the ruling of the planet Venus but what if there is another choice I had to make.

Amy discovered in the section that determine contracts involving females of the houses. A phrase indicated that an eighteen year-old virgin could dissolve any contract made without her consent. I believe that this phrase was there so a girl can dissolve marriage contracts that she did not want and probably the cause of so many Kanly marriages being canceled on the girls’ birthdays and the fact that she had no children from the marriage. Serena looked at the phrase, “No wonder, Nova is thinking that he is ‘saving your honor’ so you would have a choice to continue the marriage.

I was angry. I went to Nova, “Nova, I know why now. I don’t matter; my choice now and for the next thousand years is to remain your wife. I want to your wife. I want to have your children. I want to grow old with you.”

Nova looked at my tear filled eyes and wiped them with the tip of his finger, “Mina, you are my wife and have been such for the last four years.”

“No,” I screamed, “I want to be your real wife. I want to take care of you and love you forever. I want your children growing inside my womb.”

“Mina, my darling, you have six and a half years to make that decision. A great deal can happen in that time but I will never take the choice away from you.”

I was outraged by Nova. “I have made my choice. I am your wife and I will be your wife forever. That is my choice today, tomorrow, and every day in the future. If you don’t want me, just tell me that you don’t desire me.” I took off all my clothes and stood in front of Nova. “If you don’t want this, tell me now.” I ran my hands over my breast and along my body.

Nova stuttered and stumbled with his words. Most of the times he had seen me in the stage of dress was bathing and usually a great deal of bubbles surrounded us. “Mina, you are the most beautiful sight that I have … ever seen but I’m an … honorable man and I will never take your choice away from you.” He left the bedroom and took a very cold shower but I knew that if he were not a man of honor, I wouldn’t have that choice when I turned eighteen. I gathered my clothes from the floor and dressed. I have to force Nova hand by making my choice through Queen Serenity, my guardian.

That night I had dinner with Serenity while Nova was meeting his generals in a strategy session. Together we devised a “trap” for Nova where he had to accept me as his legal wife and not just his Kanly wife. Sometimes when two strong willed women get together, unusual things are bound to happen.

The next morning, Queen Serenity summoned the Sailor Warriors and all the nobles on the Moon to a special assembly. Nova wondered what Serenity would announce because she had not discussed any specifics with him or Serena. As Nova led the sailors and the generals into the Great Hall, I noticed that the chamber was draped in the garlands for special occasions. As Nova approached the dais of the kingdom, the generals broke away from the group and took their positions at the foot of the dais as their honor to be the Protectors of the Realm. The Sailor Warriors, including myself, stopped on the middle dais, as we all are Princesses of the Realm but not in the direct line of ruler ship. Nova and Serena continued to the top dais where Queen Serenity waited for them before she took her throne. Nova and Serena looked at Serenity with a deep puzzlement on their faces. Instead of the three thrones for the ruling family, four thrones grace the top most level.

Nova escorted Serena to her place on Serenity’s right then walked to his place on Serenity’s left hand. Serenity leaned over and whispered something to Serena who looked at the sailors and then at Nova and I saw a grand smile upon her face.

Serenity raised her hand to silence the gathered assembly. “AS many of you know that my dear brother, Grand Duke nova, entered into a Kanly contract with Princess Mina of Venus four years ago.” A general cheer rose up from the audience because the thought that this was a celebration of this union. Serenity raised her hand again, “When Princess Mina’s parents was assassinated on Venus, I became her guardian and even though she has not reached eighteen years of age, she has petitioned me, and I have granted, her request to dissolve this Kanly marriage.”

An audible sound came from Nova as he turned to his sister. The look on his face sent a grief through my heart where I was ashamed of what I was doing to him. I wanted to run to him and rest his head on my chest and kissed him until he grants forgiveness for what Serenity and I was doing to him. But we knew that this was the only way. Serenity rested a hand on Nova’s arm. “As I was saying, I have granted her request and her new petition to allow Prince Nova to accept her as his full and lawful wife.”

Quiet in the hall could be cut with a knife but suddenly, a great cry of joy arose from the gathering; “Long may the Nova and Mina be wed.”

Nova looked at the sailors and me and I hoped he realized that he saw my undying love for him in my eyes. Serena left her throne and went to embrace me warmly. Soon all the sailors was hugging me and talking among us about how Serenity and I trapped Nova. Nova sent a telepathic message to me, “So you think you have won this battle but all I have to do is not accept the contract of marriage.” I looked at him with a smile on my face, “No, you will accept because you love me.”

Serenity silenced the rejoicing crowd and turned to Nova, “AS Mina’s guardian I accept the marriage contract for her but I want each of you to agree to the marriage vows.” Serenity motioned for me to join Serena before her and Prince Darien to join Nova as his best man. “Mina, do you take Nova, Prince of the Moon and Grand Duke of the Realm as your lawful husband until the end of time?”

I looked at Nova and reached for his hand and gently kissed it, “Yes, My Queen, I will take Nova as my husband until the end of time.”

Serenity looked at Nova, “Do you, Prince Nova, take Princess Mina of Venus as your lawful wife until the end of time?”

Nova looked into my eye. He saw the love that I had for him and he looked at Serenity, “My Queen, I accept her with all my heart.” Nova gathered me into his arms and kissed me on the lips. With this kiss, I became his wife, body and soul as it was meant to be in the beginning of time. The sailors and generals broke all the rules and came forward and greeted us. Serenity gestured for everyone to resume his or her places. Serenity took my hand, “My sister, please come and take your place with your family.”

I ascended to the upper level with my arm linked with Nova. My mind was racing, I was Nova’s wife not just a Kanly wife but his legal wife. The word seemed to have a totally different meaning now. Nova held my hand as I sat down on my throne and he took his seat beside me. I reached over and intertwined my fingers with his and I started to rub the back of his hand with my thumb. The simple act seemed more important now, I always knew that I would be at Nova’s side but I still was afraid that he would dissolve our Kanly contract when we reached eighteen but now, he was mine forever until, as Serenity said it, “the end of time.”

I saw Nova raise his right hand, since it was his only free hand since I had his left in my hand. He made some sort of gesture that resembled plucking something from the air. A flash of light blinded me. When my sight returned I saw that Nova held two golden rings in his fingers. He place one ring in my lap and turned my left hand over and placed the ring on my fourth finger and brought my hand to his lips and kissed it. I grasped the other ring in both my hands and kissed it before I placed it on Nova’s finger and then I leaned over and kissed him on the lips. I realized that the kiss might have been slightly less formal than it should in this assembly so I broke the kiss and held my husband hand in my lap. Nova being so close to me and I couldn’t do more was very frustrating but we have to keep up appearances for the crowd.

Serenity rose from her throne, “We will now have a ball for my brother and sister. Please celebrate their marriage with me.”

The ball lasted all day and into the night, Nova danced with all the ladies and I danced with the men. They told me that I was the “light” of the ball because I always had a laugh in my voice but I think it was because I kissed all of them on the cheek. Each dance partner gave me a little advice but the best advice came from Lord Grendal of Mars who said, “Mina, you are still a young girl barely in your teens so enjoy life but remember that Nova may be the greatest noble in our history but he is only twelve. Love him with all your heart but always remember that within him is greatness so you always have to be at his side, supporting him when he is down and giving your love so he can worry about defeating the Negaverse and not if his wife is going to embarrass him like in some marriages. You must remember that titles mean very little to Nova but the one ‘wife’ is the one that he will respect the most.” I kissed the large man on his cheek, ‘wife’ is the one he respected the most. Above all others, ‘wife’ had the most meaning to him. Well, I promised him years ago that I would be the best wife and I always live up to my promise.

The ball was winding down when Nova came to me and asked for the last dance. It has been hours since I held him in my arms so I thought I was tease him a bit, “Well, I was saving that for Prince Darien but since he seems involved in getting Serena to dance with him, I guess that I will dance with you.” I melted into his arms and I remembered the words of Lord Grendal, “My husband, I will always be here for you. You are my life and I will support you and try not to embarrass you too much that it distracts you from your mission. I will always have my arms free to hold you and my breast ready for you to rest your weary head.” Nova held me close and as we were leaving to return to our bedroom. “My princess, I will take your arms and breast when I need it but right now I have another mission.”

Within the hour, I lost any possibility that I had to dissolve any kinky contracts but I had a smile on my face as I rested my head on Nova’s chest. I was happy and content and felt that I could shake the vaults of heaven with my joy. I am at peace with the universe and I could feel the power of Nova like never before. I could see why the Negaverse trembled at his coming, Heaven help us all when he gains his full power but now I am in a place where I want to be forever. I can here Nova breathing, I hope he’s not asleep because he will need to wake up soon. I have four years of being a wife to Nova to show him what he was missing. I’ll get him to beg tomorrow but tonight; he’s all mine.
